Chili Peppers, KISS Among Hall of Fame Nominees
This year’s nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced. The diverse group includes KISS, Abba, Donna Summer, Genesis, the Stooges, the Hollies, Jimmy Cliff, Darlene Love, and Laura Nyro and the Chantels. Also nominated are Red Hot Chili Peppers and LL Cool J, both in the first year in which they qualify.
Over 500 music industry voters will cast ballots and the top five vote-getters will be inducted. It will be interesting to see if KISS finally gets a nod, as this is their first nomination despite being eligible for the past decade. Perhaps they will join fellow all-caps band ABBA in the ranks of snubbed repeat nominees, or simply hope for a nod from the Makeup Hall of Fame.
Graham Nash, co-founder of the Hollies, is already a member of the Hall as a member of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Aritsts are eligible for nomination 25 years after their first single or album release.
